Honduras Rosewood Pool Table
The Honduras rosewood is primarily found southern part of Belize in the damp forests and along rivers. The Honduras rosewood pool table is considered extremely sturdy and durable and has a very good quality. Exactly the reason it is used in the manufacture of pool tables, because it is superior for this purpose over regular wood due to its toughness and higher density so it makes it more durable and moderately termite resistant. The texture is medium to fine with a low to medium gloss, and the color is shades of reddish to purple brown with some dark markings in between. Honduras rosewood is still being used to manufacture furniture today, but only in select wood pieces that show the same superior craftsmanship as practiced in an earlier age. There is absolutely no question that if one wants to get a superior pool table made, there is nothing to beat the Honduras rosewood.
On the other hand the disadvantages of making a Honduras rosewood pool table could be that it is a difficult material to work with, since this wood is too heavy to bend and it weighs roughly between 55 to 70 lbs per cubic feet. There could be a problem to glue on the felt on the pool table since this wood does have higher oil content; also this wood is difficult to polish since it has a tendency to split.
In spite of the downside of using Honduras rosewood as compared to a lot of other varieties available today, a lot of people prefer using this because of its durability. The wood has an antique finish to it, which gives it a very distinguished and classic look. Honduras rosewood is used largely in the manufacture of musical instruments furniture, picture frames, billiard tables, and doors amongst other things.
